FAQ

I am interested in tutoring but not sure I can afford it. Is there flexibility in pricing?

Yes! Send an email to Andes at andes@writenowtutoring.com describing your exact needs and circumstances and we can discuss payment plans and sliding scale options if indicated and available.

Where is Write Now Tutoring located? Does Andes do in-person sessions?

Andes is located in Los Angeles, California and operates in Pacific Standard Time. Write Now Tutoring sessions are virtual, but Andes can make occasional exceptions for students who are in LA. These sessions do come with a price increase to account for commuting.

When is Andes available?

Andes is currently accepting new students on weekends, evenings except for Saturday evenings, and Monday and Friday afternoons.

Why not just use AI for writing assistance?

Not only can using Artificial Intelligence for writing get you in trouble at school or work after it is easily detected by, ironically, AI itself, but it limits your creativity. Writing and thinking are inextricably linked; language activates ideas like breath illuminates air. If you let a bot write for you, you are robbing yourself of the opportunity to grow into your smartest self. Tutoring is not about anyone doing the work for you, but about asking the right questions to open the doors to the genius we all have inside us.

Are university writing centers a good option for college students looking for writing tutoring?

While free peer tutoring from a university writing center is certainly preferable to no writing help at all, there’s a certain truth to the old adage that one gets what one pays for. For those who can afford it, instruction from someone significantly more educated and experienced than a fellow undergraduate can offer a lot more mileage.

What does an ideal writing process look like?

The first secret of the writing process is that there is no one writing process. Sometimes writing happens in a straight line forward. Sometimes it happens in fits and starts. Sometimes things move backwards or in a circle. Together, we can figure out how to move through things in a way unique to you and your specific viewpoint.
